Virginia Mentoring Partnership
Founded in 1994, Virginia Mentoring Partnership provides training and technical assistance to existing and developing mentor/tutor programs for at-risk children and youth across the commonwealth of Virginia.
Volunteer training sessions
The goals of the training sessions are to make individuals more aware of the needs of today’s youth and to provide the skills necessary to empower caring individuals to make a difference in a young person’s life. Four different training sessions are offered to provide information and suggested activities to enhance a volunteer’s natural abilities:
- An orientation to mentoring
- School volunteer training
- Elements of effective tutoring
- Mentor follow-up and support
