Learn the scientific principles that are key to DNA and toxicological analyses in the crime laboratory as well as the application of legal principles to forensic evidence. Use hands-on laboratory methods in both DNA and toxicology to learn procedures used in crime labs. These experiences will progress from initial testing steps to conformational tests with various instruments. Mason Byrd, Esq., Dr. Tracey Dawson Cruz and Dr. Michelle Peace are the instructors.
General information
All summer workshops meet for a week of field work, laboratory activities and lecture-discussions. Each also includes an independent follow-up component of applying knowledge and skills learned during the summer to your instruction. Follow-up work may be completed anytime from the end of the workshop through October. Credit can be awarded when follow-up work is submitted. See additional course descriptions for more information.
