PAPR 591 Drawing and Mixed Media Workshop for Teachers: Focus on the Figure
“This class was amazing. I created more work during this week-long figure session than I would normally create in a semester-long class. ”
–'08 Participant, Drawing
July 26-30, 2010
3 graduate credits
This course emphasizes the role of drawing and experimentation in developing a body of artwork that is inspired by the human form. Participants will begin their research with a warm up exercise specified on the accompanying blog.
Collage, assemblage, drawing on experimental grounds and painting on nontraditional surfaces often enrich this process and can function as a springboard for work created during and after the completion your course work.
This workshop will also consist of artist and media resources presented on-line and during field trips. Students should email me examples of their work or website or bring samples and/or slides of their artwork to the first class meeting, plan to be present every day and at all scheduled critiques and have daily internet access.
The blog Figuration in Contemporary Art is a content enriched outline of the
course syllabus.
