Dorm Details

West Grace Street Student Housing

Dorm rooms are single, non smoking rooms, each with private bath, toilet, sink and vanity with mirror and power outlet. Each room also has its own climate control.

  • Check-in Sunday                     4-7 p.m.
  • Check-out Friday                     7-9 a.m.

A map and directions to the dorm will be mailed to you with your welcome letter two weeks prior to the start of your workshop.

Please check in at the security desk. Security personnel will direct you to Conference Services staff members and they will give you your linens, key, I.D. and a parking pass. There is a $65 fee for lost keys and a $25 fee for lost IDs.

When checking out please bring your linens down to the lobby during the stated check-out time (7– 9 a.m.) on Friday. You may hold on to your dorm key and I.D. until you are ready to leave and at that time deposit it in the drop box located in the lobby.

Parking spaces have been reserved in the CM parking lot located on the corner of West Grace and Laurel streets. If you are driving, please be sure to put the parking pass on the rear view mirror of your vehicle. A circle drive is located at the front entrance of the dorm for checking in and unloading. 

There will be a Conference Services representative available from 5 p.m.–8 a.m. If you need assistance you will be given a number to call at check-in. This number is also posted on all floors in the building.

Please keep in mind that these are bare dorm rooms, be sure to bring:

  • Alarm clock.
  • Toiletries.
  • Shower shoes.
  • You will be provided a linen set that includes: two towels, one wash cloth, one sheet set, one pillow and one pillow case and one light blanket. There is a lost linen fee of $35.
  • Each floor has a trash room, coin laundry room, work/study area and water fountain.
  • There are Ethernet network connections, phone jacks and cable TV connections in each room; however, you will need to bring your own a phone cord, phone, Ethernet cord and TV if you choose to use these services.

VCU is an urban environment. In the evenings we recommend that you travel with a buddy or use our Free Escort Service. It is available from 5 p.m. until 8 a.m. every day and they can also provide you with information about our campus. For more information call (804) 828-WALK.
