benefits available to Retired Faculty

Retired faculty members need a retired faculty ID to receive most benefits. If you did not receive a picture ID at the time of retirement, please contact the VCUCard office at (804) 827-2273 on the Monroe Park Campus or (804) 628-2273 on the MCV Campus; or you can email vcucard@vcu.edu for information on obtaining one.

VCUCard locations:
Monroe Park Campus: Technology Administration Building, 701 West Broad Street Lobby
MCV Campus: Tompkins-McCaw Library, 509 north 12th Street, Rm 1-025

In order to receive a VCUCard, retired faculty must be entered into the Non-Employee Affiliate Database. This entry must be made by the department from which faculty retired and must be updated annually.

Bookstore

Barnes & Noble has taken over management of the bookstores on both campuses. The contact number for the Monroe Park Campus is (804) 828-1678; on the MCV Campus, it is (804) 828-0336.

Computer accounts

Retired faculty members may keep their VCU e-mail accounts as long as they remain in a university relationship and are listed in an official university database (HRS, Banner or the Affiliate dabases). Many retired faculty continue to receive university services, as emeriti faculty or in some other capacity, as long as they are in the appropriate database. Interested retirees should check with their departments and requiest inclusion in the Affiliate database, which must be updated annually by the department. Once faculty members are no longer active in the database, their e-mail accounts will be terminated, following two weeks' notice. If you have questions, contact Emily Gambill.

Musical events

Retired faculty members may purchase tickets at the same rates as active faculty. Call (804) 828-1166 or visit the Department of Music website.

Parking

Retired faculty members may obtain a parking permit free of charge by presenting a retired faculty ID to the parking office on either campus and completing an application for a retired faculty permit.

An emeritus permit may be requested by presenting documentation of that status to the parking office. A retired faculty permit and an emeritus permit carry the same privileges.

The permit allows parking on the Monroe Park Campus in any unrestricted lot of 20 or more spaces or in the West Broad Street Parking Deck at Harrison and Broad Streets. On the MCV Campus, the permit allows parking in the D or N parking decks.

Renewal notices will be sent every year, usually in September. You may use the secure server to renew online during this renewal period. You may be notified of when to renew by e-mail if you have provided an e-mail address on your application. It is necessary to renew parking permits. Please notify the parking office of changes of address, vehicle and/or license plate number.
