Meet the instructors

Jane Carlson

Jane Carlson has more than 20 years experience in both the public relations and the development arenas. Currently she is a communications and development consultant working with a variety of local and statewide nonprofits. Her experiences include serving as spokesperson and press secretary, coordinating special events, planning capital campaigns and coordinating comprehensive development programs. She worked in the Central Development Office at VCU for 13 years, 10 of them as the director of major gifts. Carlson also has experience in the performing arts and served as director of community relations and development at the Richmond Ballet.
