Photography Studio: Digital Photography (Instructor: Travis Fullerton)

This course introduces art teachers to photographic fundamentals and digital darkroom techniques. Using digital cameras, computers with Adobe Photoshop software, scanners and inkjet prints, participants will complete in-class exercises before producing several personal photographic projects. No prior computer or photographic experience is necessary.

Using digital cameras, computers with Adobe Photoshop CS4 software and scanners, participants will complete in-class exercises before producing several personal photographic projects and a final portfolio. Participants in this course will explore basic techniques with digital studio photography using electronic flash. Portraits, still life and experimental lighting also will be explored. Outdoor digital photography will be taught and history of photography discussed. No prior computer or photographic experience is necessary. Students of all levels are welcome. This class may be repeated to investigate additional complex technical and aesthetic issues of the medium. Class is limited to 12 participants.
Photography Studio: Digital Photography 2
3 credits
This is a beginner to intermediate level photography course focused on digital image capture. The course will feature in depth instruction on proper exposure and proper use of various digital-specific camera features, as well as an exploration of digital imaging fundamentals. During this course students will complete numerous shooting assignments outside class, which will be reviewed and discussed in class the following week. Other topics will include RAW file processing, image file management, basic image editing, digital image printing, color management and more. Students of all experience levels are welcome, though some prior photography experience is preferred. Students will be required to have a D-SLR or similar digital camera with manual exposure and RAW capture capabilities.
